Dr. Arif Alvi

President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

Dr. Arif Alvi was sworn in as the 13th President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan on 9th September 2018. Dr. Arif Alvi was born in 1949 and completed his early education in Karachi. He did his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from De’ Montmorency College of Dentistry, Lahore where he was declared the “Best Graduate”. He completed his Masters of Science in the field of Prosthodontics from University of Michigan (1975) and in Orthodontics from University of Pacific, San Francisco (1982). He was awarded fellowship ‘Diplomatic American Board of Orthodontists (1995)’.

Federal Minister for Law and Justice

A politician and a leading lawyer assumed the responsibilities of the Federal Minister for Law and Justice in the present tenure of the PTI-led coalition Federal Government. He was elected to the Senate of Pakistan from Sindh against a Technocrat seat in March 2012. In the year 2018, he was re-elected as a Senator on the General seat from Sindh. On a number of occasions, he rendered his services as amicus curiae before the High Courts and Supreme Court of Pakistan in intricate cases. Besides, he has also conducted international arbitrations. As a top lawyer, he has hundreds of reported judgments to his credit in constitutional, services, civil, corporate, commercial and tax matters. He has previously served as the youngest Advocate General of Sindh in 2008. He has also served as the Head of the Pakistan Bar Council in the year 2016-17.

Barrister Maleeka Ali Bukhari

Parliamentary Secretary, Federal Ministry of Law & Justice

Maleeka Ali Bokhari was elected to the National Assembly as a candidate of PTI on a reserved seat for women from Punjab in the 2018 general election. On 7 September 2018, Prime Minister Imran Khan appointed her as Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice.
